The Great Ethiopian Run is Africa’s biggest road race and one of Ethiopia’s most vibrant annual events. The 10 km race brings together elite athletes, fun runners, and visitors from across the world for a celebration of endurance, unity, and culture. The streets of Addis Ababa come alive with music, color, and community spirit as tens of thousands participate each year. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Great Ethiopian Run, which is set to attract a record number of participants, exceeding 50,000.
The race starts at Meskel Square on Sunday morning with two starting times. The Fast Wave (for participants wanting to run under 1 hour) starts at 8:00am from the road outside the Ghion Hotel. The Fun Wave (for participants who will take more than one hour) starts at 8:10am. (Time is +3 GMT). The place of your start is also indicated by the sleeve colour of your race t-shirt
