Revisiting Faces of Tigray
An Art Exhibition Marking the Fifth Anniversary of the war on Tigray.

Join us for the exhibition Revisiting Faces of Tigray, which presents works marking the fifth anniversary of the start of the war on Tigray. It brings together organizations, artists, and advocates to reflect on themes of resilience, healing, and hope from the original project.

The initial Faces of Tigray exhibition, held on 26 April, 2025, featured an art initiative that connected children in IDP camps with local artists in mekelle. Participants collaborated to produce portraits conveying personal stories of courage, aspirations, and determination. Through joint art sessions, children and artists engaged in creative exchanges that addressed experiences of hardship.

Each artwork includes a final portrait, an accompanying written narrative, and details of the child’s aspirations, highlighting individual perspectives. The pieces will be on display and available for purchase at Esseni Art Gallery, with proceeds directed toward supporting the children’s families and future creative initiatives.
